A provincial Chinese cabinet constructed in solid elm, dating to the late Qing through early Republican period. The timber shows pronounced interlocking grain with tonal variation and surface wear developed through years of use. Two doors open to interior storage with fixed shelving, fitted with original iron hinges and a later European warded padlock with key. The cabinet also features a concealed top compartment accessed through a discreet hinged panel. A straightforward piece defined by its material and honest construction.
