An exceptional Tibetan cabinet retaining its original painted façade.
The doors draw on the Chinese Bogu, or ‘Hundred Antiques’, tradition, bringing vessels, censers, flowers and precious objects together as symbols of prosperity and good fortune. Raised gesso and metallic pigment give the decoration depth and a subtle shimmer.
Traditional frame and panel construction and adzed surfaces preserve the marks of its making. A rare and expressive piece, offering generous storage with the presence of a collected work of art.
The painted surface shows natural pigment loss and an old repair across the lower panel.
