An exceptional large scale ottoman combining an Afghan Baluch textile with a richly aged carved teak frame.
The textile combines knotted wool pile with a lower woven ground, creating distinctive relief through the central medallion and intricate geometric borders. Its near square composition relates closely to the traditional sofreh, a textile historically laid out for the serving and sharing of food. Remarkably well preserved, the depth and variation of the original weave remain beautifully intact.
Substantial turned legs and hand carved rosettes frame the generous 120cm square proportions, giving the piece the presence to sit confidently at the centre of a room.
